Halloween is around the corner and I'm getting excited. Now, I haven't dressed up for years, but not for want. I would love to have the time to design and make a Halloween costume. I do get inspired by the colors of autumn and dress appropriately. I'm waiting for a necklace that I ordered from the Etsy shop, Ardent Sparrow to arrive. Check it out....

I have not posted in a month or so despite my commitment to do so. I am in a Master's Program and the class I'm taking involves statistics. Enough said. I haven't had time to make new cards in a couple of weeks and I definitely haven't painted anything new. To be honest, all my energy has gone into my newish job, school, and following the election. I'm obsessed with it.
I want to give a shout out to all my new neighbors on xanga. Thanks for adding me.
Here are some Halloween cards I did make before packing up the supplies for a few weeks. These are for sale on my Etsy shop, Victoriasart.

Thanks, Seinfeld, for confusing me on the saying. Either way... clearly I've not posted in a while. I don't want to be one of those people that is constantly writing it's been a while. So, I'll try not to be.
Basically, I've gotten busy. I just started classes up again for the Fall last week. There is a lot of work for this one. It involves statistics which I know little to nothing about. Wish me luck.
Today is our one year wedding anniversary. Does that mean we're not newlyweds anymore? (sniff...) Anyway, we had a packed weekend with the wedding of friend and our little get away to Anapolis. It was very nice, but short. For alas, we're back at work.
Speaking of work... I've been doing some paintings, getting some promotional postcards printed, and I'm getting ready for the holiday season. I did nothing the last two years.
Here is my lastest painting that I've added to my shop. It is based on what I saw in KaDeWe (Europe's largest department store) in Berlin. We were on our honey moon last Oct. The cake looked so delicious I had to paint it. This is available in my etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=15032106
I was involved in a project where I sent promotional materials to ten people in other cities. My business cards were going to Canada, Hawaii, etc. Those ten people would send me their promotional material as well. It took a while to get everyone's items. Once I did get them I went to where I could find bulletin boards and put the items up and shot a photo of them.
Now, it's a lot harder than one would think to find bulletin board in my area. There are not a lot of mom and pop or small businesses around so there are not a lot of bulletin boards. All the bulletin boards are Giant food stores, the Carvel (which I have yet to hit), and the Brooklyn Deli. See photos of the promo project below. Check out the Flickr group with the rest of the cities and their promos.
I've finally started a new painting. I've been planning on doing it for some time now. It is based on the apartment and we stayed in while in Berlin last October. I loved how the room looked and the view from the patio window.
I started a second painting of the same subject half way in the middle of the first one. I'm glad because it ga
ve me a new way to think about painting this interior with all its straight lines. I'm excited to get it done. It's a different technique than to which I am acustomed. I'm using hot press archs paper and its if really smooth and I have to make sure it is really dry.
Take a look at my workspace and my genuine beginnings.
I want to thank Mollystuff for interviewing me and featuring me on her blog, Mollystuff. http://mylifedesign.blogspot.com/2008/08/featured-etsy-seller-victoriasart.html
Doing the interview was a lot of fun. You will get to know me a little more since she asked some good questions.
When you get a chance, take a look at Mollystuff's store. She make some really cool looking jewelry.

I've been on a short hiatus, but I'm back. I'm done with school for the summer semester. I have a 3 week break before the Fall semester starts back up again. I'm going to use my time wisely and enjoy myself and create things. We went down to Virginia beach and enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. Before we left though, I made some really cute cards that I've added to my shop if I don't say so myself.

Insanejellyfish has featured me in her Monday Review on her blog. She did a great write up. I see that she is a creative writer; therefore it makes total sense. I'm glad she featured my eating cactus painting... it deserves more love than it has been getting. Thanks! Insanejellyfish!

She's the apple of our eye and I love to paint her. I did this little ACEO (3.5" x 2.5") original watercolor a few weeks ago, but it took forever for me to get around to scanning then listing it for sale on etsy. But, she's there now. It was a quick sketch while watching her swim, then finished it off with watercolors. I've noticed there are a lot of birds on Etsy, maybe too many? So, I'm dedicated to bringing awareness to the wonderfull beauty of goldfish or fish in general. I just have one so I paint her. Lately, she's been hitting the filter intake causing the filter to rattle. We tend to think she does it so we go up there to make it stop rattling. As soon as we sit, she's hit it again and looks at us. She's a prankster sometimes. LOL.
This weekend I decided to go back to some spontaneous drawing. I usually do some planning for my paintings and digital art. Not this time. I decided to draw whatever came to me as I was drawing. Here are the results. I'll be listing some items (ACEOs = Art Cards Editions Originals) for sale on etsy. http://victoriasart.etsy.com

We get to move back home after having been displaced for a couple of weeks from the fire. I miss home. It's funny how you're always trying to get away and go on vacation, but when you're put out due to unforseen circumstances you want nothing better than to be at home.
It will be a lot of work to clean up the mess that was made of our place. We'll have to get our goldfish back and put in 28 gallons of water. It wasn't all that fun the first time we did in Oct, and I'm not going to like doing it now. Homie has to go in his bigger tank soon. She misses us and we miss her while she's "vacationing" at my in-laws.
I'll finally get back to my computer and my graphic designs, painting, and card making. A couple of days before the fire my new xyron (laminates, add adhesive, magnets, etc.) arrived and I didn't get to use it very much except for a father's day card.
I'm glad we're home in time for Fourth of July as well. We get to have a fun holiday with my siblings visiting.
