Thanks, Seinfeld, for confusing me on the saying. Either way... clearly I've not posted in a while. I don't want to be one of those people that is constantly writing it's been a while. So, I'll try not to be.
Basically, I've gotten busy. I just started classes up again for the Fall last week. There is a lot of work for this one. It involves statistics which I know little to nothing about. Wish me luck.
Today is our one year wedding anniversary. Does that mean we're not newlyweds anymore? (sniff...) Anyway, we had a packed weekend with the wedding of friend and our little get away to Anapolis. It was very nice, but short. For alas, we're back at work.
Speaking of work... I've been doing some paintings, getting some promotional postcards printed, and I'm getting ready for the holiday season. I did nothing the last two years.
Here is my lastest painting that I've added to my shop. It is based on what I saw in KaDeWe (Europe's largest department store) in Berlin. We were on our honey moon last Oct. The cake looked so delicious I had to paint it. This is available in my etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=15032106
I've finally started a new painting. I've been planning on doing it for some time now. It is based on the apartment and we stayed in while in Berlin last October. I loved how the room looked and the view from the patio window.
I started a second painting of the same subject half way in the middle of the first one. I'm glad because it ga
ve me a new way to think about painting this interior with all its straight lines. I'm excited to get it done. It's a different technique than to which I am acustomed. I'm using hot press archs paper and its if really smooth and I have to make sure it is really dry.
Take a look at my workspace and my genuine beginnings.
Lips. How can you not love them. I'm intrigued by them. Some people have thin lips, some fat, some with thin tops and fat bottoms. I have no problem with thin lips. With the right curl they can look just as good as the plump lips.
I was painting lips one day... I guess they were on my mind. I painted these lips from imagination and from memory of my observation of my favorite lips.
I just listed LIPS for sale this ACEO* (Art Card Editions Originals), giclee** reproduction of my original acrylic painting. This Art Card is standard 3.5" x 2.5". Check out the listing at http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=12982556 or my shop, Victoriasart
*Art card, editions and originals
An offshoot of Artist Trading Cards are the "art card, editions and originals" (ACEO). ACEOs originated when some artists began to create cards to sell, in addition to trading among themselves. The selling of these cards is a sore point with some ATC enthusiasts; but, of course, the provision that cards should not be sold is not an enforceable one. Trading cards in other areas such as sports have also been traded and sold. The practice is meant to explore the temporal miniature in art, to augment the income, increase visibility, circulate small works more widely, as well as increase their patronage.

***Giclee= A giclee (pronounced "zee-clay") comes from the French word, "fine spray". It is a digital plotter-based (large format) print that is produced by the application of millions of tiny ink droplets sprayed onto fine art paper or canvas. The archival based inks used are specially formulated so that the fine print heads spray droplets at a resolution of 1200 dpi. The media used is also of archival grade and can last from 100 to 200 years. The visual quality of the print is extremely high and the color saturation and definition stunning.
BreeLeeD makes and sells things that are Preeeteee. Okay.. that's a little hokey, but I thought it was cute.
BreeLeeD and I found each other while chatting in one of Etsy's chat rooms. I love Etsy chat rooms because you meet other sellers and wonderful artisans. I noticed BreeLeeD's childhood of taking art classes and spending countless hours in fabric and craft stores with mom was similar to mine. My mother... as the Beastie Boys put it... "she's crafty!" as I'm sure BreeLeeD's mom was and BreeLeeD is now. I love BreeLeeD's Etsy shop http://breeleed.etsy.com
and her work, so we're doing a blog feature swap.
BreeLeeD is straight out of Southern California, loves decoupaging, sewing, quilling, soap-making and card-making. She is also a proud member of Artisans of Southern California (http://www.artisansofsocal.com) and California Crafter's Club of Etsy (http://cccoe.socalblog.org).
BreeLeeD makes these Upcycled Vinyl record covers into notebooks and journals. This one I love and reminds me of my childhood. We had this record at home in the collection:

She also makes the cutest zipper pouches. They're cute and despite being homemade... they don't look homemade. I also like her purses, headbands, aprons, vintage items, and more. It all looks great. So check out what she has, especially now... SHE'S HAVING A SALE! http://breeleed.etsy.com Very reasonable prices :)

It's been busy for me lately, but I've been making sure I have time for everything. I started a new job and classes on the same day. My class is taking off like gang busters. I have something due every week. This week I have a group project and I finally heard back from everyone. Nuts. My birthday is coming up and I want to do something for that. So I have to get the house ready. It's not too bad, but there are clothes everywhere. I hate laundry. I like ironing, but I hate laundry.
I'm excited because I sold my first print. I've sold paintings, but now I've sold my first print. It's being given as a gift. I'm glad. That is our goldfish when she was a little baby. She would sleep over this shell. It was her spot.
I've been featured in another treasury!
I'm so excited. The thing is that the painting already sold. But, it's nice to get the exposure. Check it out!

I'll be listing all week. here is what I've listed so far:

I was digging through my stuff and looking for paintings that I hadn't finished and could list on Etsy. I realized I wasn't being very prolific and if I don't have muse now... I did in the past. I was inspired to paint this red door. It reminded me of something one of my painting teachers would say about history. I didn't put too much history by the means of actualy layers of paint, although there are several. I felt the door itself had it's own history.
I really liked the photograph that inspired it. It gave itself well to a painting rendition- the stucco walls. I also love red doors.
My green chair painting is being showcased along with other chair art from other artists on etsy. This link expires tomorrow, so check it out.
I've just added the following painting, Pears, to my Etsy shop, Victoriasart.
Check it out:

I want to thank Jon Dose for sharing my art with his friend who in turn purchased "pears." You made my day :)
